How to Check CDI of Splendor Plus Bike

           Indruction

Hello friends, welcome to Rajesh Technical Blog. Today I will tell you how to check the CDI of Splendor Plus bike. Let’s start.

The CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) unit is one of the most important parts of your Splendor Plus bike. It controls the timing of the spark plug, which helps the engine start and run smoothly. If your bike is not starting properly or missing the ignition, there might be a problem with the CDI unit.

Step 1: Understand the Function of the CDI

The CDI stores a small amount of electrical charge from the alternator and releases it at the right moment to the spark plug. If it fails, the bike will not start or may misfire.

Step 2: Check the Symptoms

  • The engine does not start even after several kicks.
  • There is no spark at the plug.
  • The bike stops suddenly while running.
  • The bike’s mileage decreases drastically.

If you face any of these problems, it’s time to check your CDI unit.

Step 3: Locate the CDI Unit

In Splendor Plus, the CDI is usually located under the seat or near the battery compartment. It’s a small black box with 5 to 6 wires connected to it.

Step 4: Visual Inspection

Remove the CDI socket and check for any loose connections, burnt wires, or corrosion on the pins. Clean the socket with a dry cloth or contact cleaner if needed.

Step 5: Test the CDI with a Multimeter

You can use a digital multimeter to test the output:

  1. Set the multimeter to the DC voltage mode.
  2. Connect the black probe to the ground (bike frame) and the red probe to the CDI output wire.
  3. Kick the bike and check if there’s voltage fluctuation.

If there is no reading, the CDI might be damaged.

Step 6: Check Spark Plug Output

Another way to test the CDI is to check the spark plug:

  1. Remove the spark plug.
  2. Connect it back to the plug cap and touch its metal tip to the engine body.
  3. Kick-start the bike.

If you don’t see a spark, the CDI could be faulty.

Step 7: Replace the CDI

If the CDI is confirmed faulty, replace it with an original Hero MotoCorp CDI unit. Avoid cheap duplicates because they can damage other parts of the electrical system.

Step 8: Final Testing

After installing the new CDI, kick-start the bike. You should feel a smooth ignition and consistent spark. Also check headlight and indicators — if all work properly, your bike’s electrical system is now healthy.

Tips for Long Life of CDI

  • Always keep the battery charged.
  • Avoid washing the bike’s electrical area with pressure water.
  • Don’t use cheap local wires or2025/10/diy-repair-electric-bike-battery connectors.
  • Use proper earthing connections.

Conclusion

Checking the CDI of Splendor Plus bike is an easy process if you follow these simple steps. Regular maintenance and periodic checking can save you from sudden bike breakdowns. Always prefer genuine Hero parts for better performance and long life.
